Holiday rental home near Rufford Abbey in Sherwood Forest improves facilities for larger groups and family reunions

New upgrades to popular Nottinghamshire family holiday home, including large corner sofa arrangement with chaise and separate three seater, expected to be a big hit with guests.

May 15, 2018 ( – The East Wing At Rufford Park Lodge has announced new upgrades to their popular holiday rental property, which includes a purpose built corner sofa arrangement and three seater designed to seat ten adults comfortably, allowing all guests to enjoy the living room at the same time.

The latest additions have multiple new features designed to make life easier for groups of friends and family reunions including:

Large corner sofa arrangement with chaise and separate three seater – the new living room furniture is designed to comfortably seat ten adults

Separate chaise unit – the chaise unit is deliberately not fixed so that it can also be used as a footstool for added flexibility

New tall chrome towel heater – installed next to the walk-in shower complements the existing heater adding extra drying capacity and convenience

A full list of upgrades to the facilities can be found on the company website,

The decision to carry out these upgrades, which include WiFi extenders, a smart thermostat and new mattresses as well as the living room furniture, were brought about in response to feedback from guests. As part of an continual drive to provide the best guest experience for all parties, whether families, couples or corporate; returning visitors can expect regular improvements both now and in the future.

Derek Armstrong, Owner, had this to say:

“We have an ongoing program of upgrades and in response to feedback from our guests we have increased the seating capacity in our living room which now comfortably seats ten adults. We are sure this will delight returning guests in the future. Although we have always had plenty of seating around the property, we had previously struggled to fit all the guests in the living room at the same time, and have found the solution with a smart and practical corner design. With the separate three seater sofa there should be plenty of seats to keep all our various group combinations happy”.

Previous visitors interested in learning more about the upgrades can do so directly on the website at New customers can also use the site to view the latest images and view the booking calendar showing current availability.

Rufford Park Lodge has seen many incarnations in its lifetime and, although it is a Grade II listed building, it is difficult to pinpoint which features are truly original. What most people agree on is that it is a unique property with a certain quirky charm that is worth preserving, and in our case worth sharing.

The Lodge is divided into three parts which are joined together by a connecting wall, giving it a look from a distance not dissimilar to that of a castle. Each part is individually privately owned and we were fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to purchase “The East Wing” in 2009. Although we fell in love with it at first sight, it took us a while to come to the conclusion that it would be most viable as a holiday cottage. This seemed to be the best solution as it would enable us to recoup the cost of renovations and restorations, whilst still being able to use it ourselves in between bookings.

Once we started the work in earnest we finally pulled it all together, with much help and support from the neighbours, at the beginning of April 2011.

We are delighted with the result, and hope you will be too. We have further improvements planned but for now it is doing what it does best, which is to provide a comfortable and homely base for families and groups of friends to chill out or explore the vast surrounding countryside, walks, cycle routes, activities and local hospitality.
